Online Poker – Is Online Poker Legal in Your State?

There are a variety of different ways to pay for online poker. Some sites only accept credit cards, while others require that you set up a virtual bank account. This can be beneficial if you’re worried about identity theft, which is a major problem these days. However, it is always a good idea to choose a bank with a high volume of customers to ensure that your account is safe. This way, you can deposit money into your poker account and withdraw it whenever you’re ready to cash out.

As of today, only 6 states have legalized online poker. Many more are expected to follow. States like New Jersey and Pennsylvania have seen significant revenue results from legal online poker. As more states realize the benefits of online poker, it is likely that more will pass laws to make it legal. Fortunately for poker enthusiasts, these laws do not apply to online casinos. As a result, players in these states will be able to play at reputable online poker sites.

There are also a number of states where legal online poker is prohibited. In New Hampshire, Sen. Joseph Addabbo reintroduced a bill that would have authorized 11 new online poker sites to operate. It would have allowed for a 15 percent tax on online poker sites, and New Jersey and Pennsylvania would have gotten at least 15% of the revenue generated by these sites. Although new legislation is unlikely to pass until 2021, several lawmakers have noted that they will continue working toward legalization in the state.
